I'm Matt Svarcs Richardson. MSR. I'm an entrepreneur, an adventurer, and sometimes an essayist.
I believe that the secret to an interesting, well-lived life (however you define this) is to set unreasonable goals for yourself and to pursue them relentlessly. I’ll write about this a lot here, and I’ll encourage you to try it.
I was recognized by Forbes 30 Under 30 for my role as co-founder and CEO of Alltrue — the Whole Foods for non-food. Alltrue grew to nearly $100M ARR and 300,000 paying members. I’m currently building Ansel, a premium ultralight outdoor gear brand. I plan to work on Ansel for the next 50+ years.
I've hitchhiked across three continents mostly without money, biked across Europe, and packrafted and backpacked almost everywhere in the American West, including Alaska.
I've also snuck into the Super Bowl, the World Series, and the NBA Finals. And a lot more things. Eventually I’ll write a few essays about this.
I love games and invent them all the time, like a child. I never grew out of this. Everything can be a game.
I grew up in the Bay Area, spent ten years in Los Angeles, and recently moved to Bend, Oregon.
